Jamal Musiala has pledged his international future to Germany over England. The 17-year-old, who became Bayern Munich’s youngest Champions League goalscorer in Tuesday’s 4-1 victory over Lazio, was born in Stuttgart to a German mother and British-Nigerian father, but moved to England with his family as a seven-year-old and has represented both countries at youth level.
Musiala was spotted by Chelsea as a youngster before swapping their academy for Bayern’s two years ago.

Ipswich suffered a serious blow to their hopes of automatic promotion from the Championship when they slid to a 1-0 defeat at local rivals Norwich.
A tense game of few clear-cut chances was settled by 39th free-kick from Marcelino Nunez, who fired home low and hard from over 30 yards.
The win left a below-par Ipswich side hoping for slip-ups from rivals Leicester and Leeds later in the day, while for Norwich it further cemented their place in the top six.
It also maintained their overwhelming supremacy in this fixture in recent times, with Ipswich having failed to clinch an East Anglian derby win since a 3-2 victory at Portman Road way back in 2009.
After a predictably tight start the home side began to take the initiative, winning a series of free-kicks …
The new LaLiga season starts this weekend but Barcelona and Real Madrid still have work to do in the transfer market before the big kick-off.
Barca and Madrid have lost much-loved club icons, with Cristiano Ronaldo departing the capital after a hugely successful nine-year spell and Andres Iniesta leaving the Catalan giants for a new chapter in his career in Japan.
Ernesto Valverde s side won the double last season and, on paper, seem to have strengthened more than Madrid, who have strenuously denied they will move for either of Paris Saint-Germain s superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
The deadline may be just over two weeks away, but how are Barca and Madrid shaping up in terms of transfers ahead of the new season?

Real Madrid want Inter Milan s Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho to replace embattled Manuel Pellegrini next season, sports daily Marca reported Friday.
Mourinho still has three years left with Inter but there is a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave in June, it said, adding the Spanish giant s interest had been well received by the former Chelsea coach.
Pellegrini, 56, is under pressure following Real s 1-0 Champions League defeat away to Lyon and the club s embarrassing elimination by third division side Alcorcon from the Spanish Cup late last year.
The Champions League final will be held at Real s Santiago Bernabeu stadium on May 22 and the club, which spent nearly 250 million euros (340 million dollars) on fresh talent before the start of the…
Pep Guardiola backed Rico Lewis to play a starring role in Manchester City s quest for a fifth Premier League title after an impressive start to the new season.
Lewis, who has started every game for Guardiola this term, impressed in City s 3-1 win over West Ham ahead of the international break, while he also played the duration of England s win over Finland.
The 19-year-old has filled in for the absent Kyle Walker so far, and Guardiola is confident that his recent form will help the Citizens moving forward as the Champions League group phase kicks in.
Absolute, absolutely [he s playing well]. Have you seen the minutes he played in the pocket? I said many times, Rico has one incredible ability that for many years, it was difficult to find, Guardiola said.

It’s time to start treating Erling Braut Haaland as what he is. A true world-class player.
That might sound like an exaggeration considering he is only 19 years old and, in fact, he won’t be 20 until mid-July. However, the Dortmund striker continues to defy expectations and just when we think he can’t overcome himself, he does.
The 12 last months has been an incredible ride for the Norwegian forward. He burst onto the worldwide scene when he scored NINE goals in a single match against Honduras in the U20 World Cup, where Norway won by an impressive 12-0 scoreline. But he started the season bagging goals for fun at RB Salzburg.
What Haaland has done at club level has been utterly amazing

Liverpool announced the signing of Brazilian forward Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan on this day in 2013.
The 20-year-old became manager Brendan Rodgers’ second signing of the January transfer window after finalising the details of his medical and work permit.
Coutinho was on his fourth club – all in different countries – in three years, but having spoken at length with compatriot and new team-mate Lucas Leiva, he was confident he would adapt to life on Merseyside.
“I’ve been talking to him for some time and he said good things about Liverpool,” said the midfielder, who began his career with Vasco da Gama before moving to Inter, who loaned him to Espanyol.
“He believes this might be a nice club for me and now it’s happening. I’m very …
